Window Tint

Window Films & Automotive Tint

In today’s world of ozone depletion, overexposure to ever increasing UVB and UVA radiation can enter the atmosphere and cause sunburn and other certain forms of skin cancer. Malignant Melanoma is caused by indirect DNA damage which may result in negative health effects on the skin, eyes, and immune system. Prolonged exposure has given the International Agency for Research on Cancer of the World Health Organization reason to classify ultraviolet radiation as a Group 1 carcinogen.

Myko Designs provides window films that can:

  • Block 99% of harmful Ultra Violet rays
  • Reduce the effects of skin cancer from direct sunlight exposure
  • Reduce solar energy transmission by as much as >60%
  • Prevent interiors surfaces from being bleached or faded
  • No Radio Frequency (RF) Signal disruption, Satellite, GPS, Cellular or TPM signal disruption on our Dyed and Ceramic Film lines
  • Excellent Film Clarity, maintaining factory glass appearance
  • Offering Color Stable Films in a variety of shades to suit your visibility or privacy needs
  • Offering exemplary combinations of heat rejection and high Visible Light Transmission (VLT)

Vocabulary:

Metallic – Metallic window films contain sputtering technology or deposition technology that creates a metalized coated layer. This metalized layer can control radiation through reflectivity and absorb or reflect heat. Metallic sputter can influence electronic signals by a marginal degree.

Dyed – Dyed window films contain a dyed layer which absorbs heat. While it does not influence electronic signals, the dyed layer can fade over time diminishing the heat absorption properties or alter the color aesthetic from the originally intended desire.

Carbon/Hybrid/ Ceramic – Ceramic window films are non-metallic and do not contain dyes that can result in discoloration over time. Ceramic coatings help by eliminating the need for a metal layer in the films composition to increase the solar rejection efficiency of window films. Ceramic coatings gives Myko Designs the same or better solar energy rejection without interfering with electronic signals as metallic films do.

Visible Light Transmission (VLT) - usually expressed as a percentage. the amount of light that is able to pass through glass. Hence, 5% allows 5% of visible light to pass through glass and is therefore considered a very dark shade of tint. Some refer to 5% as Limo Tint. Conversely 80% VLT allows 80% of light to pass through glass and is similar to glass in its stock OEM state.

Visible Light Reflectance (VLR) - The total visible light that is reflected off the exterior surface of the glass

Total Solar Energy Rejection (TSER) - The total solar energy rejected by the glass

Shading Coefficient (SC) - The solar heat gain passing through the glass

Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) - The solar energy that is directly transmitted or absorbed by the glass

Ultra Violet Light Rejection (UVLR) - The total ultraviolet light that is reflected by the glass

Infrared Rejection (IRR) - The amount of solar infrared radiation that is prevented from passing through

All of our tint blocks 99.9% of UV light. Our higher end films block higher amounts of Solar Energy which equates to a cooler interior while driving your beautiful vehicle! For technical specs, visit our Product Film Information and Technical Specs page!
